The RUSSI@SIA Public Lectures, offered in conjunction with the RUSSI@SIA Faculty Development Workshop, are a unique opportunity for the Anchorage Community to hear Dr. Mark Bassin and Pamela Spratlen, two of the most renowned experts on the Russian Far East, speak on the important issues of the region and its relationships with its neighbors, including Alaska. For more information on the lectures, please refer to the program.

The RUSSI@SIA Faculty Development Workshop will examine the relationships between the Russian Far East and its neighbors in the region. Panel discussions, slide presentations, and local and national speakers will focus on a wide range of topics, including the indigenous peoples and their cultures, personal accounts of life in the Russian Far East, and the current economic and political dynamics of the region. The workshop is intended to support the efforts of university and college professors to incorporate materials on Russia in Asia into their courses.
