Pavel Sobol is the Russian Project Director of the CIVITAS Eastern Russia partnership, which includes the states of Alaska and Washington, and five Russian regions - Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Vladivostok, Magadan and Khabarovsk. His professional interests lay in the development of non-government organizations, public administration and self-governance. Mr. Sobol has participated in several international conferences dedicated to civic education in Moscow, Mexico, Budapest and St. Louis (USA). In 2003 he participated in the Academy of Civic Education ( Los Angeles, USA) and in 2004 in the International Human Rights Training Program in Montreal ( Quebec, Canada). His most recent publication was the brochure “How to create a sustainable NGO”, which has been published in September 2004 within the joint project of the Russian-American Center on Kamchatka and Aleut International Association ( Alaska, USA) and financed by FRAEC. As of November 2001, Mr. Sobol is also the founder and director of the Russian-American Center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. |
